A Google Chromebook is a basic version of a laptop, aimed at users who work with web applications. Chromebooks run on Chrome OS, a lightweight operating system, developed for use outside of the organization.

The default login on a Chromebook is using your Google account credentials. HelloID makes it possible for an end user to instead login with their Active Directory account, allowing for one less set of credentials that need to be remembered by the end user.

For the IT department, HelloID is extremely helpful by allowing these teams the ability to gain full control over access to applications, drastically increasing security. HelloID allows for the organization to easily require stricter guidelines for credentials, as well as allowing access to be granted or taken away with one click. HelloID also allows for all user actions to be logged and tracked, which ensures that the organization meets their compliance requirements.

Authentication of the user is handled by the identity provider of the organization, such as Active Directory, ADFS or LDAP. HelloID not only handles the authentication, it also is beneficial by allowing for one portal for all single sign-on applications. The benefit for the end user is that they can work more efficiently, since they have one clear portal in which all necessary applications are available immediately after only one log on.
