PAM-focused survey reveals remarkable lack of adherence to best practices

Read the results of One Identity’s global survey of more than 900 IT security professionals to see how the widespread use of poor PAM processes puts organizations at risk for breaches.

The survey found that many organizations do not adhere to basic best practices — such as individual accountability for privileged users, secure password management and the use of a single management tool — which is concerning given that many high-profile breaches involved compromised privileged credentials.

Here’s a sampling of survey results:
• 18 percent of respondents admit to using paper-based logs to manage privileged credentials
• A surprising 36 percent use spreadsheets to manage privileged credentials
• 32 percent said they are unable to assign individual accountability to users of admin credentials
• 46 percent don’t change the default admin password
