In one more sign that SAML will be a core enabler to cloud-based applications, Ping Identity is offering its PingOne cloud-based single sign on (SSO) service to SaaS (software-as-a-service) providers at no cost – for the first customer.

The company’s PingOne Application Provider Services “free plan” lets software architects quickly enable SAML-based single sign-on (SSO) for their SaaS applications and get SSO underway. Once SaaS companies adopts PingOne to provide SAML SSO to broader customer base, PingOne will support additional customers for a “nominal” fee, according to Mark Diodati, director of product marketing for Ping Identity.
