Privileged ID management and the new security perimeter
In the wake of the revelations that Edward Snowden released, the threat posed by privileged users was thrust into the spotlight as a serious concern that can have tremendous implications for national security. The federal government has prioritized addressing the risk of this threat, even going so far as to distinguish it from cybersecurity and releasing the Cross-Agency Priority (CAP) Goal on Insider Threat and Security Clearance, which aims to “mitigate the inherent risks and vulnerabilities posed by personnel with trusted access to government information, facilities, systems, and other personnel.”
