The landscape for cloud computing has transformed drastically since the early 2000’s when very few people knew of the possibilities that the “cloud” and “cloud computing” held for businesses. Even until a few years ago, there was a lot of speculation surrounding the possibility of using cloud for business operations. Organisations spent significant time and money to ensure that their applications were safe and sound and securely locked down on-premises. Businesses applications stored on the cloud were reliant on the provider’s security policies. While on-premises access control was relatively easy, the notion of turning the ownership of their application to outside cloud service providers sparked fears about the security and privacy of the data.
