There are several alternative \nauthentication methods that do not involve passwords \u2013 such as a \nhardware token (an object the user has that verifies their identity) or \nbiometric methods or devices such as a physical feature belonging to a \nuser, like their thumbprint.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And while these methods all include a  different approach to passwordless authentication, they have one thing  in common: The user&#8217;s authentication data is never stored within the  system, as a password would be.
