Delinea Create Secret for Active Directory

A Delinea Secret is any sensitive credential (password, key, token, or certificate) managed securely in the Secret Server vault, with policies, rotation, and auditing in place to protect against misuse.

Think of a secret as the “unit” of privileged access being secured. It can be:

  • Passwords – for domain admins, local accounts, service accounts
  • SSH keys – used for Linux/Unix or network device access
  • API keys/tokens – used by applications or integrations
  • Database credentials – SQL, Oracle, MongoDB, etc.
  • Certificates or TLS private keys – used for encryption and trust
  • Application secrets – configs or embedded credentials in scripts

Below are screenshots for an Active Directory Delinea Secret creation.

  1. Log in to your Delinea secret server and select Create Secret

2. Complete the Information with the Active Directory details.

3. Once created, you will enable other features for your secret. From here, you can start the RDP launcher.

4. Click RDP Launcher

5. Delinea Secret Server will require you to provide the computer or server name you need to connect.

6. Once started, if it is a Windows machine, it will ask you to install RDPWinBootstrapper. Complete the installation if it has not been installed.

7. If RDPWinBootstrapper is installed, you will start the remote session to your Active Directory computer or Server, and in your Delinea Tenant for the connected user, the Active Session is displayed.
